No glass cockpit, no dme, no hsi, no gps, no loran c only the basics of the time.
This will show your age, but I sure would like to have all the latest goodies if I were still a plane owner.

E6B always worked for me. It will get you where you want to go, providing one knows how to use it. I don’t thing any flight school teaches that tool. TOO OLD.

I haven’t thought about one of those in a while. I can twist the red knob and get an instant reading on Fuel Required to Destination. All of the information is easily found or displayed. Things have changed. I still enjoy taking the j3 up with nothing!!

Why can’t the panels of our older Prevost’s look like this?
I went to the Garmin tent at EAA and found a Garmin vehicle product manager. I asked why we as higher end RV owners can’t have nice fancy glass dashes like the airplanes can. I’m not sure he got my point.
The E6B was one of the first “computers” I used. I had just mastered use of a slide rule before I started to take pilot training in my senior year of high school.

If the E6B is so great, why don’t you download the APP to your smart phones?????????????
The E6B has no buttons, no glass screen, no batteries, no nothin and you guys that beat me up about my rotary dial flip phone are now bragging about old technology. What am I missing?

I learned to fly in the mid-eighties, and I had both an E-6B and an electronic E-6B. I hated using the “calculator” because I was proud that I knew how to use the “wheel.” I’d probably struggle to use either of them now, but they’re still sitting in a box in my garage, along with my Jepp textbook. I think I even have the King Schools VHS tapes somewhere.

Thats a great invention. But…what about those Chinese nuts and bolts that arent quite Sae and not quite metric. It needs a third side.

Chinese Crap. Bought an assortment of phillips head screws for a project and couldn’t even tighten um without wallowing the heads out. Soft pot metal it seemed.

Point of information: When I worked for a living I bought all of the Crescent Tool buildings in Jamestown NY to house two of my businesses. Crescent made their line of tools there at one time. They bailed out of NY state in favor of Sumter SC.
