While on shore power inverter issue
I have my coach connected to shore power and the bi pass switches are set to normal. Every 30-90 seconds the phase 1 inverter keeps moving from ac in good to inverting and continues to do this. If I have the section set to Search, On or Charge it will do this on all 3 settings. I also disconnect shore power and started the gen, got the same results. My phase 2 inverter is not doing this.
Please help the newbie…

Could be bad batteries in bank, Greg. The guru’s will be on shortly to help.

Tom Chilcote aka Truck will chime in here… we had Dekka AGMs in our coach and they weren’t worth a dime. Tom knows his batteries he can tell you how to check them and replace them… believe me he is your man… he can get you the Prevost recomended Lifeline AGMs delivered to your door in a couple of days cheaper than anyone else.. fantastic service and great to work with.
It may not be a battery issue but if it is it can be a nightmare.
I mentioned on your other blog that you might reset the inverter.. read that if you haven’t already to see if that helps.

Amen on the batteries.
Anytime you have unexplained inverter actions immediately rule out a bad battery because even one bad battery in a bank can screw up things. To load test however each battery has to be disconnected from one another. And if you opt to buy a load tester make certain is has sufficient capacity to test batteries typical of the size used in most conversions.
But in addition to verifying the batteries are OK, check and clean and tighten all battery cable connections as well, and do not overlook the ground connections which will also drive an inverter crazy.
If one inverter functions properly it is not likely the batteries or terminals are the problem but ruling them out is good trouble shooting practice.

What inverters do you have and if the are Xantrex , what software rev. are you running?
I agree with Jon. If one is functioning correctly, it is not likely batteries as they are both 24 volt inverters and a voltage condition would hit both.
A couple of suggestions.
Is the shore power pedestal good? Did you test it before you hooked up?
1. Check Input AC frequency and voltage settings on the inverter. If the frequency setting is off, you will see the same result no matter the AC source. They are all supposed to be 60HZ (+/- about 4HZ)
2. Test the circuit breaker on the front of the inverter.
3. Cycle DC power to the inverter.
After #3, you will need to reprogram the inverter (if they are the 4024)

sometimes it the basic thinks….. It was the reset button on the inverter.
