We stayed at Fontainebleau state park last three weeks ago. You can get a 45-foot coach into the campground, but it can be a bit tight in a few spots. Only six sites in the whole park have full hook-ups. All the other sites have electric and water. The hook-ups are not all where they should be but we didn’t need any additional cord or hose.
We are presently back in the greater New Orleans area and staying at Bogue Chitto state park. This place is spacious and beautiful, but it’s not close to N.O.

I think when we look back at history, there were many social norms that went away somewhere around January 15th, 2009. Any other questions this morning.

Next time you are going to be in New Orleans, try Pontchartrain Landing on France Rd. ( http://www.pontchartrainlanding.com/ ) It is only 6 miles from the Quarter and they run a shuttle bus that will save $10. off what parking would have cost, so you’ll have more $ for those beignets at Cafe DuMond. I think you’ll find everything to be much more polite with Pontchartrain Landing. They have water front sites, a marina with ramp, fishing off the bank, a neat bar with frequent live entertainment.It is located in a place that is a bit cumbersome to get to the first time, but once you’re there you’ll be amazed at the quiet environment, yet still close to town.

It looks very interesting and we will put the Pres sites or Supersites on our agenda next time through if you can tell me it has sewage connections… it says it has a dump station? The rental number is relatively high but with the amenties considered and I belive we will pull our boat and use it within the somewhat confined waters there….as long as there isn’t a strong wind… Ski Nautiques don’t handle rough waves well… looks like a great park!
It doesn’t appear to be all that far from the downtown area for appointments… and besides, we seldom go to the French Quarter anyway…. our preferred eating places are what I consider to be West of downtown, for example, on Carrollton…
The park is needed and I wish you every success….

Pres…All the regular and premium sites have full service…50A, water, sewer connection. I believe virtually all sites have a picnic table. Some of the premium sites out on the river have some other amenities…grills and other stuff I’m not familiar with. If you stay there I would be very interested in your take on the place. I use RVPark Reviews; I havn’t looked lately, but I think most all the reviews are favorable. I don’t know that there’s ever going to be a way to make everyone happy…some people just can’t be happy, regardless….but, overall, PL gets really excellent reviews. That’s what we want, for sure!
Tom mentioned getting them to offer a bit of discount to PC members with an ad on the site….I’m gonna work on that…stand by!!!

It took me a while but I finally figured it out. In the post above, Expressbus must be referring to the speech by Senator Mitch McConnell on the day of President Obama’s inauguration in which he stated that he intended to assure that Obama was a one term president by blocking his every effort to get anything done. Personnally, I would say that McConnell damaged only the US Senate that day and is not responsible for the broader death of courtesy nationwide as Expressbus implies, but I guess everybody is entitled to his or her opinion.
p.s. I’m ok with both posts being deleted, as they do seem a bit off-topic.

Been to French Quarter RV park couple of times. It’s within walking distance to French Quarter everything.

On our way there now….this will be the 5th time we’ve stayed there….never a problem and oh so convenient !

I guess we are lucky too… we have stayed there numerous times every year and never had a problem.. the convenience is really wonderful.
Jon… didn’t just stay there a few weeks ago? What was your experience?

We stayed there several times, but this last time we opted to stay at the KOA on the west side. We just got tired of the noise levels from I-10 at night, sirens, loud cars and trucks, etc. We have stayed at the KOA on the west side since 91 or 92 and really enjoy the drive along River Road and St Charles when we want to go into the French Quarter. But we also like it because it is close to the plantations we like to tour when we are in the NOLA area.
For convenience it cannot be beat. It is within walking distance of the French Quarter and all that has to offer, or at least a cheap taxi ride from everything, but this trip we opted for quiet nights. When we went downtown we parked at the big parking lot at Riverwalk and took the trolley from there into Jackson Square.
