When did Prevost stop making a 40 foot Coach?
Also what major differences on the XL2 40′ and 45′? I see CAC location for one, also notice most of the 40ft seem to have more tint/blackout in the windshields…what else?

2000&2001 shells I think. Five feet.

They stopped making 40 footers because the old adage appears true. Size matters.
For all you filthy minded folks out there the size we are talking about is the huge increase of useable space that five foot difference makes and the market just stopped buying 40 foot new coaches.
The same thing has happened with slides. Once folks got the ability to increase the interior space with slides we haven’t seen any non-slide coaches in a long time.

2004 that is kinda what I thought….the 40’s do seem really rare, for me the shorter length and no slides really appealed to me for what I am going to use the bus for but I can see alot of people would want a 45 and slides for the extra comfort.

Then there are the differences made by the converters. Because of limited basement space, I know of one converter who put the water tanks (and maybe waste tanks too) under the stateroom bed. That would certainly make for some interesting weight distribution challenges. Anyone know of other converter house placements done differently in the 40′ versus the 45′?

Love the extra five feet! But I know I can’t be the only person who doesn’t like slides. I guess it depends on how you use your bus. Mine spends more time going down the road than parked somewhere. If I were going to go sit somewhere for weeks at a time, I might feel differently. But then, I grew up traveling on a 96″ MCI with a bunch of other musicians. 102″ and 45′ seems huge compared to that!

Drove to work today behind a brand new (at least by looks) H3-41. I guess they still make shorter seated coaches, just not the conversion shells.
