Wheel Well Treatment
I just finished my tag axle wheel well treatment. I had posted this treatment a few years back on POG and thought I would post it here. Since I had my wheels removed for new tires and new service/brake chambers, it would be a good time to do it.
I have never like this stuff…
You know, it’s the stuff that they put under the bus and in the wheel wells, yellow insulation, painted black.
Well, I remove it and paint a rubberized paint where my mud flap isn’t going to cover.
I then take a 1/4 in PVC mud flap and put it in place of the ugly insulation. I use a torch to heat the mud flap where it makes the bends. I didn’t have to make any bends on the steer axle, just the tag.
I used self tapping screws to hold in place. While working on this project, I noticed the tag lift had an issue.
The threaded clevis on the service chamber was broken. It had rusted tight to the arm from lack of use. I don’t raise my tag very much. I will at least exercise it more now.
This is one of the reasons I enjoy working on my coach, I get to see it on a regular basis.

Good find on the broken tag clevis. I do not lift my tag very often either. Something to look for while under the coach.
