What would this loose wire be for
there is a loose wire dangling
wonder what could have been the reason or is it supposed to go somewhere

Looks like unit has failed or partially failed…shouldnt be any jumper wires from side to side….I would guess loose wire was the result of trying to jump it on that circuit….

With Jeff ( not that it madders) those units are known to crap out and are to low of amps to handle bus loads. Appears someone just by-passed part of it to make driving tail light work. Curious have you changed over to Led bulbs?
