What is this?

Well, I will answer this question for you.
What you see in this photo is a slide room seal! The big one for the living room slide.
Last Tuesday, I was sitting on the sofa and reading when, all of a sudden, I heard a noise which sounded like a secret fart ( … 🙂 … ) and this was soon after followed by a distinct hissing sound.
It was not difficult to locate. I could not see it but I sure did hear it and could pinpoint the location. A couple of minutes later, more or less, the aux compressor started and ran for a minute. Repeat that a few times.
I knew that my worst fear was true. The slide room seal had failed..
Lucky me is still at Coach Worx/Parliament (somebody suggested that I put up a mailbox outside the bus). So I had Joe Evans, one of their Prevost mechanics, take a look at the situation. Needless to say he confirmed what I already knew.
The new seal got ordered from Prevost Jacksonville on Wednesday. Arrived and installed on Thursday.
All is well again. No, not quite. My wallet is really hurting … New seal … $3,700.00 … !
Here below are a few more photos.
The first one is showing Joe Evans installing the new seal.
The slide had to be moved into the coach to get at the seal.
Looking out from inside.
Rick May commented that the seal must have gotten pierced by one of Olivia’s horns. Nasty, nasty..
