What is the best transfer switch?
I have an ’06 Legendary with a 2 box transfer switch (duel stage delay on the gen) that is overly complex. About 2 coaches after mine, Legendary also decided it was overly compley and simplified it. I would like to replace it with a single box transfer switch that has a manual override in case of failure (I like to plan ahead to try and outsmart murphy).
The coach has a 17.5Kw gen, trace 4024 inverters, and a Surge Guard 35550 in the shore line only. IOn my coch, the also use the trasnfer switch as a junction box to terminate the inverters.The only load shedding is for the second stage of the basement airs for use over the road and is done in the main breaker box so that should not complicate tranmsfer switch sellection.
What is the best unit out there? I hear Vantare has an excellent transfer switch but have no idea what they are using.

Some converters design and build their own. See if some owners will let you poke around and look at their transfer switches, and then copy the one you like the best.

I know that Dave Rousey who used to work for Legendary and owns Styleworks RV told me that he changed out some to eliminate issues. I am sure he could either do it, or give you information on what would work the best. Dave Rousey can be reached at 541-543-7983. It has been awhile since I talked to him, but that number worked then. Do you have the wiring diagrams for your coach? That would help in your search for a replacement. Dave also should have those if you don’t.
Also, Jeff Rowe can probably fix you up with something. He looked my 2008 Legendary about 3 years ago to see what would be a good replacement for that one. My 2008 was different than you 2006 but I am sure he could set you up with something.

Thanks. I have been in contact with Dave and use him for support but figured I would take a wider opinion pole as I could really use anything. He know longer runs his own business full time as he has been working for the big used Country Coach dealer in Oregon doing service and upgrades. For Legendary owners, he offers an annual subscription service to offer what is about as close to factory support as is possible.
I’m going to have Taylor Tours do the work and they pretty much had the same advice…pick one that you like.

I am interested in what you find and pick out.
I have a dual switch as well, one for shore with generator and a separate power switch for the Inverter.
Would like to combine all 3 power sources in one switch as well.
