What is the best resource for locating a camp?

I really like the “All Stays” app on my phone. It provides rest stops, walmarts, state parks, Koa, private camping, low bridge and overpass heights, and so forth.
I think it was $10. One time download price for my iPhone. it has been 100% worth it.

Passport America(club low cost)–US Goverment camping-list BLM and Corp of Engineers and National Forest service sites. Usually lower expense than comercial camp grounds. Corp & lot of Forrest Service Camp are first class courtesy of your tax dollars.

We mostly use four apps: Allstays (about $10 one time cost for the app); Good Sam Camping (free app for anyone but if you pay to join Good Sam some campgrounds give a discount); Passport America (low-cost annual membership fee that gets you a discount only at participating locations, each of which have their own restrictions); and RV Parky, a free app that’s actually pretty good. Probably the first one I start with to scout out campgrounds is the RV Parky. Info on Corps of Engineers campgrounds is on-line, but no apps except for specific places where they have facilities. But, RV Parky has a filter where you can search only for Corps camping.

P.S. Tom, I’ve done some browsing on the PC map and found some that have bad links. Should these be reported to you?

Take a look at RVtripwizard.com.
Identifies campgrounds along/near your route with links to their reviews and websites, drag & drop changes to suggested routings, trip cost/budgeting capabilities, fuel points along your route and based on your individual coach criteria, upload trip routing to your GPS, identifies pet hospitals along your route, and a bunch more. I’ve used it for planning our trips for 3-4 years. A great many options and very configurable to your individual needs/wants. It is an annual renewal. Cost is about $40/year, but worth it, IMO.

Get the Trailer Life Directory available at Camping World. It covers pretty much every campground in the country, and tell you details like 50 Amp availability, size of spaces, back-ins vs. pull-throughs etc. Addresses make it easy to find using a nav system, and list phone numbers for contact. It is about the size of a Los Angeles phone book, so very comprehensive.

Linda – The information on the map has been furnished by the member who posted, but I’ll try to correct. It may be easier to just google the Campground for their website.
Remember folks, this map is populated by a PC member that has been to the Campground or knows your bus will fit the facility.

Big rigs best bets can be a useful adjunct to all the others mentioned. They do have an on-line version as well as printed.

printed directories are useless because by the time they go to print, they are outdated.
Furthermore, using your own description saying it is the size of the LAX phonebook means,
you have to use magnifying glasses to find information that is useful. Plus, I m not looking for 99% of all the campgrounds. Meaing, 99% of the printed information is of no use to me. I much prefer online searches and I do have the Big Rigs printed version we use from time to time. Online or app searching is the wa to go But thi is just my 5Cheers,

I have used the Trailer Life directory for 27 years, and I have yet to have a problem with outdated information. We just buy a new one every 2-3 years–the old one goes in the house for easy reference. Being near-sighted, I have no problem with the small print. I find it very easy to use. I also use the KOA directory and the Big Rig book as well, and I’ve been known to use the computer and the nav system as well. Whatever works to find a space. The only problems we run into is when you have a hard time finding a vacancy due to heavy camper traffic.

Another vote for RV Park Reviews. They seem to have more recent reviews than most other sites. The application is really clunky on anything other than a full PC with an Ethernet connection.
