What else
Posted by rafael on March 3, 2021 at 9:32 amWell this has definitely been an interesting week for me as far as issues go now I noticed one of my inverters is staying on bulk and not switching to float this just started 2 days ago, don’t know if temp has anything to do with it but I noticed it the morning after it was -0 with a wind factor of -24 any ideas? I have trace inverters

My first reaction when I read your post was to think if you have a temperature sensor on your inverters. As you likely know the charging voltage varies as temperatures vary.
But my second thought was that it could be an indication of tired batteries or possibly a battery with an internal short.
I presume if you are subjecting your batteries to heavy loads that could be another reason for staying in bulk, but with light overnight loads that would certainly allow the inverters to get into float.
What kind of inverters do you have and how old are the batteries?

Your post got me thinking, previous owner said the batteries where replaced 2017 and I never verified, so I went out took the fender off and they where replaced in 2017 lifeline batteries but I noticed the temp sensors where cut. The sensors are there but the wires cut for some reason. But both inverters use to go into float. Now only one does. I have trace inverters not sure the model number on them I have to get down there and check.

Ralf I had same thing happen to mine Un plug coach turn off inverters and remove fuse from power source to inverters for 5 min and plug back in and turn inverters back on should fix problem. Hard reset. Jim

Ralf,
If you have Trace 4024’s, you can easily force them into float my adjusting the absorption time to zero. Use the manual, I don’t want to explain how to do it, because other settings can get screwed up if you push the wrong buttons and sequence.
Someone obviously unhooked your temp sensors and that’s a good thing.
