We have a 1990 Marathon 40′ with an 8V92T DD2 with 187,000 original miles on it. I do not want to jinks myself, but this old girl just runs and runs. She uses very little oil (a 2 cycle will use some) and really does not drip any either. The silver 92 is a far cry from the older “green grenades” that the older 92’s form the 1970’s and 80’s that were in many of our trucks. It’s not a 12.7 but it still works.

When we bought her, it needed the same zeroing out that a much newer coach would also need, ie: air bags, brake chambers, shocks, tires, batteries, coolant, transmission service, air conditioner repair, AIR LEAKS, and general maintenance. Some optional interior work too. But it still has many of the original components installed by Marathon. I know I should not brag, but the 2 inverters, the two water pumps, the water heater, macerator pump and the Wabasto are the original ones and they still work great. I won’t brag about the original Microphor, it needs a little coaxing to work. A new Techma is in her future. We have a regular residential refrigerator ( unlike the cheap ones Jon spoke about- they must have been in a Liberty.

Price was OK and it left plenty of room for the repairs any coach will need. it’s still a Prevost, and it’s just getting broken in.

Thanks for that Bill, I’m glad to know that you guys love your coaches as you do. Since I’ve been paying attention I’m amazed at the number of coaches from 1987 to 94. And as you’ve said “it’s a Prevost”! Jon has been holding my hand as I’ve been wondering through the morass of things to look for and know about and as you know it’s no easy thing. And Jon if your lurking, I want to thank you again for your patience. I’m sure there have been times when you said to yourself “HJ is an idiot”! I thank you for not having that come through in our many emails!

Keep asking questions … I asked many questions for six-months prior to purchasing my coach. After my purchase, I really started to ask questions!

There’s so much to learn, which is really impossible until you purhcase, drive & live in one of these machines …

And Rocky, my wife says for me there’s a

I’m actually quite pleased
to say I’ve learned a bunch from you guys. And I know that one absolute
truth is that my learning curve really starts after purchase! My wife has
been living with my motorhome planning for about three years now starting with
the plastic coaches. Since I’ve been looking for a Prevost, I guess about
a month now, my wife said yesterday; “I can understand you and the
Prevost, there really isn’t anything like it”!

From the beginning I’ve
shared the good, the bad and the ugly regarding all that is motorhomeing with
her. Because of that she’s been a big help to me looking, planning and
deciding. To give you an idea of the bad and ugly thngs I share with her,
I even read your stuff to her!

We look forward to our
Prevost adventure and are looking every day for our Prevost. I’ve even
become friends of one of the converters who led me away from one of their
coaches and said they would find my coach for me! I’ll keep looking of
course but I believe they will do just what they said and I’m tickled about
that!
