  • What are these things for?

    In the top picture is the schematics and then below is picture for a Double Shuttle check valve and some sensors for both systems what is shuttle valve?? and sensors on either side for low psi ?? And 3rd and 4th pictures Spring brake valve is that a relay valve for spring brakes??

    The double shuttle check valve directs (and stops) the flow of pressurized air in the two systems. The low pressure sensors monitor the air pressure in each of two systems (primary and secondary) and if system pressure falls below the set pressure for the sensor, (I can’t remember, 70 psi maybe?) the dash alarm sounds. They both can leak as well as the push on fittings for the 1/4 black plastic tubing which goes to the primary and secondary dash gauges. Don’t ask me how I know this…

    Art, are those parts located in the steering compartment?

    Roger, access will be better dropping the front bumper. They are mounted up near the ceiling in the center ( left to right) of that compartment.

    Do they ever fail If so what is the symptoms??

    Your 2nd item, item# 52 in the diagram, is a Bendix SR-1 Spring Brake Valve. Here’s a link:
