Bryan, I don’t have to pay sales tax or excise tax thanks to the great state of Oklahoma. (I am 100% VA disabled) so that is not an issue.
Jon, I was completely joking…..and hope no one took offense to what I said. I have met some good people in buses. My wife and I sat in a bus just a couple days ago and visited with he and his wife all evening. Theywere a great couple that really help educate me….The owner actually spent all afternoon opening every bay and talking to me about EVERYTHING in his bus (04 Vantare H3).
It is a stereotype and that is what I was making fun of.

You have no idea how we are stereotyped. Seriously.
And ironically people that should know better don’t. Far too many times of the last 25 years I have had people come up to me in an RV park and suggest if they had the money they would own a Prevost. They are saying we are rich and they are not. But when I find out they have a new Monaco Signature or some other high end coach I let them know my coach cost less than they paid for theirs and then they don’t believe me. To most of the world all Prevost coaches look brand new and people are shocked when they find out that are not new, and in some cases quite old.

My old coach (1991 XL) sitting out in the barn looks and runs like new. They do hold there looks but like anything you have to keep them up. Bought ours off the original owner after he passed and the wife called and asked if we wanted it about 6 or 7 years ago . Had 52,000 miles on it and looked like it rolled off the showroom floor. Knew ours from the first get go as our fab shop did work for his company and stepped in it after the trip down from converter in 1992.. Bought ours for cash never looked back. Had a single slide 35′ Holiday Rambler at the time and there is no comparision on the ride and handling. Up until last month (sold the ranchito) still had cow poop on my boots and wear a c boy hat and faded wranglers. Stereotype me and you would think I would work for beer or be begging for some. Some of the most interesting dudes are the truckers. In the last six months since converting to Prevost I’ve had more truckers come over to say ‘hello’ while I’m fueling than ever before. Yesterday at a Love’s I was offered an even trade for his new Freighliner Cascadia complete with a trailer loaded with ‘some kinda barrels of glue’. I declined but we agreed to hook up when he’s haulin’ gold bars. He said he liked the 5 year old Wrangler in back too but I refused to sell it . i told him I’m too cheap to invest another $1K to put L&G braking on a new Jeep. We laughed.
Life is good.

You & your bride would be overwhelming welcomed by every PC member.
I believe over the last year traveling across our great country, RVer’s are generally a helpful bunch. Since joining PC April ’15, I have been to one Seminar, two PC rally’s and one ad-hoc gathering with “two older PC couples” 🙂 to enjoy some good ole cajun food. Not once, did any conversation I had with any PC member discuss our net worth or annual income.
I think I’m also in the opposite position you are … I actually wanted two-slides and my bride said she wanted the non-slide (thanks Tom!), which was fine with me since I was still able to drive the finest motorhome on the planet.
Like life, there are those who may consider themselves exclusive based on some monetary value or position of power, but true commraderie, friendship, and allegiance look beyond the temporary …
Either way, I hope to meet you & your bride down the road one day, to raise a glass, regardless of your decision.

Bret, We went from a 2007 four slide winnebago tour to one slide salon …My wife would never be happy with non slide ..we are very comfortable in our coach bedroom is tight the way we look at it is we only sleep there ..Best of luck what ever you decide

All things happen for a reason I guess, but it appears our bus deal fell through. he search continues I reckon. Thnks to all that have emailed and given advice and comments on here. Maybe someday.

The “stereotype” made me laugh… I wish you had been a “fly on the wall” at some of our rallies… shorts and flipflops are great… its whatever makes you feel good… Actually I haven’t met a Prevost SNOB at one of our rallies… but I’m sure they’re out there… but I have met lots of SNOBS with other brand coaches… these folks my friend are real… down to earth and fun… from all walks of life too…we all have something in common and that’s the love of Prevosts. Such a great group of folks. The only thing that could stop you from fitting right in would be being a snob… so no worries there.

What I find interesting about some of the other RVer’s we run into, usually at campgrounds and RV parks, is that some of them who stand in awe (some probably in disdain) as they look at our Prevost is that when I see what they are driving (whether newer plastic motorhome or a newer monster fifth wheel and almost new crew cab diesel dually (with the obligatory Gale Banks package)) …. I know that we have probably spent the same or even a little less on our Prevost (including two Premium Jeff Rowe oil changes) than they have have on their rig.

Carole and I attended our first rally way back in the Spring of 2007. It was the FMCA rally in GA. At that time I had owned a 1990/1991 Country Coach Bus Conversion but had not settled on a tow vehicle. In the row of varied camping rigs there was one with a non-Prevost that was towing a 2003 Dodge 2500, the same year and equipped like mine. I asked if I could come discuss flat towing the pick-up. We had a nice conversation, until he asked where we were “parked.” When I told him we were several spots away from them in the same row and it was the old Prevost, the response was , “Oh, we’ve never seen the inside of one of THOSE before.” Suggested he might want to take this opportunity to come down, visit and set awhile. Never happened. Now I don’t know why it never happened but I got the distinct feeling that when I told him we had a Provost, somehow that was equated to being way better than they were, which of course is not the case.
