Webasto Wiring
My bus is 24 years old and I have had it for the last 12. The Webasato hsd never work well. When the thermostat calls for heat the first time it will fire up and runs, but when the burner turns off it will not longer fire up again without turning the off and on switch off and on. I have replaced nozzles, fuel pumps, temp limiting switches and fuses but to no avail.
all the thermostats run together just before the webasto. Couid the different settings on the themostats be backfeeding to each other cancelling out a call for heat? Should I put diodes in the thermostat lines? could the water bay thermostat set a 55 degs be causing a problem? Should this be turn off. I have SMX’s in the Bedroom, Salon, Galley and bathroom (which is only there to run the kick fans). There is a mechanical thermostat in the water bay the is set at the lowest temp in case it freezes.I am looking for any suggestions that could solve my problem.

I just fixed a Webasto this past week that had your symptom. It would fire and run fine but when it shut down, it would not restart.
Turned out that at sometime before the owner purchased his coach, someone had worked on his Webasto Burner. They had plugged the High Limit Thermostat into the Control Thermostat connection and the Control Thermostat was plugged into the High Limit connection.
So when the Control Thermostat cycled the burner off, it opened the High Limit circuit telling the Control Unit to shut down and fault. To restart would require turning the switch off and then back on.
Check the thermostat wires on top of the heat exchanger. The Contol thermostat does not have a white reset buttion like the High Limit thermostat does. So once you have the Control Thermostat identified, the wires from the Control Thermostat must be plugged into the white and orange wires.
My fix was to unplug the High Limit Thermostat and to plug the Control Thermostat wires into the white and orange wires. Then plug the High Limit Thermostat into the wires the Control Thermostat was plugged into.
