  • We got our bus back!!

Posted by Chip & Pam on December 21, 2017 at 3:04 pm

After 2 weeks spent in a small cabin, we have our bus back. Pam and went to Marathon (Grand Prairie) a few weeks ago and dropped off the bus. It was time for some mechanical and interior work to be done.

    The Marathon stuff:

    – New fabric on Jackknife couch

    – new fabric on valances

    – New upper rope lights

    – new windshield gaskets/seals

    – flush & clean water bays

    – new roof seal applied

    – fixed a few broken switches

    – weighing of the axles

The mechanical stuff was done by Resolution sales and service:

    – new radiator fan clutch

    – new radiator thermostats

    – new temperature sensor

    – new turbo exhaust gas tube. There was signs of a leak showing up on turbo shell and the heat blanket. The turbo exhaust tube clamp had loosened and the coupling flange was pretty much destroyed. I suggest checking the clamps if you have not done so.

I put on a new auxiliary air regulator valve (the valve that goes to the mini bags). My regulator decided to start leaking profusely the day we started the work on the fan clutch. I’m glad it as it was an easy fix. To ensure I would knock out the rest of the coolant stuff, I installed new 78,79 & 99 relays.

Now that I have the bus back, I can put on my pressure pro. Tom sent it last week. I can now put it on. 🙂

    PS

Jon & Tom .. I have changed my tire pressures. The bus was weighed and I ran the Prevost calculator). These are high. Yes, they are. The catch is that I am actually coming down to these pressures. I then added some psi to give me a safety margin (just something I believe I need to do

Steers are 110, Drives & Tag are 100.

Congrats on the work you had done. It feels great getting a coach refreshed and all the little things taken care of.

The belt tensioner valve and regulator are indeed something that should be monitored because they are often the source of leaks in the rear. Good job.

Here is a photo showing the difference between the New exhaust tube flange and my old one. Notice that the flange was completely torn up. This was due to a loose clamp. Once loose the vibrations tore the flange up.

Suggestion: next time you are in for service, have them check the clamp on the back of the turbo.
