Must have had the aux compressor on Alvie, or you win the award for the tightest aux system in PC world.

After Prevost fixed the air leaks on the bellows, I haven’t had to tighten the belts. The longest it has been sitting so far was two weeks. But checking the belts is part of the pre-trip inspection.

Tom, on reflection I believe you might be correct. We were home in late January for our daughter-in-laws birthday and I may have run the aux compressor at that time. Not certain, but do know the belts were tight yesterday. Bus is kept in heated/cooled shop. Don’t know if that makes a difference or not.

I think on your chassis the aux air to the belts is on the manifold whose air is only supplied with key on. If your belts remained tight it may be because your system is air tight.

    As a follow-up,

Went thru my pre-inspection before departure. No air in Prevost Aux tank. Went back to engine compartment to check the three belts on the belts tensioners. All were tight. I thought they would be loose if no air was in the Prevost Aux tank.

    What am I missing?

The way your coach is set up is like most if not all coaches. Prevost aux air is used to tughten the belts through a pressure regulator to get the correct tension. But prior to the regulator / valve assembly you have a check valve. It allows air to enter the belt tensioner system, but not to flow backwards into the aux air system if the aux air system should have less pressure.

Your belt tensioner system sounds like it is tight (leak free) and that the check valve is doing its job of retaining the pressure in the system despite the aux air leaking down. You still have the ability to loosen the belts if you want to change a belt by turning the valve 90 degrees, but unless the aux air system has sufficient pressure the belt tensioners will not re-inflate.
