Water leaking into roof of basement bay
My bay right before the drive axle on drivers side is leaking and not sure how to find the leak. Was just a drop or two but there’s a ton of water after a large storm, and another’s coming today. Worst part is I put my inverters and whole 48v lithium setup in there.
I have valid slides and the rear one starts right before it. It’s possible I don’t have air in my seals. Also possible it’s from the bay door hinge or seal but I can see it dripping from the ceiling.
I’d think valid slides would have somewhere to catch water if the air seals aren’t full and its leaking. Slides are in.
Is there any spot along the side of the XL2 I should be caulking or something? Im wondering if it’s right where the panels meet and that huge horizontal bar sticking out across the coach

I would look at the piano hinge on the bay door, if I was a betting man.

Yeah the panel above the bay is right between both slides and I can push on it and it’ll move almost an inch so obviously unglued. Before I had my batteries pointed so the buttons and wiring faced the ceiling in the bay, then a month or 2 ago a couple drops of water followed the ethernet cable for BMS to Victron and made it’s way into both batteries BMS frying them. Luckily they were SOK batteries and they just sent me the BMSs for like $400 and was a quick repair. I mounted them horizontal just incase. It rained a ton over past 2 days and soaked 3 towels I put above the batteries to catch the leak.
When I bought the coach a year ago there was some water damage by the passenger seat so I knew there was some issue with a leak. Never found it but must be a panel on that side too. Also on the drivers door area I was running a wire through a hole on the subfloor and it was wet. keep a dehumidifier in the coach and it’s on a lot.
So looks like a 30k+ repair for the paneling. I’m already planning on putting hardwood throughout the coach so will pick a strong water resistant like bamboo and it’ll help protect the subfloor.
I might try some caulk between the panels on those metal bars just to see if I can prevent the leak until I can get it into the shop

Don’t use Bamboo, My brother in law living by the beach installed bamboo in his hole downstairs he has had nothing but problems and that is just the moisture in the beach air. He now is installing vinyl planking and it can handle moisture water floods and it looks great. All the bamboo went to the dump.

There’s different types of bamboo I believe but totally get what your saying. Maybe teak or something else as they put that on boats. I’m wanting real hardwood and could seal it too if needed.
Don’t like the look of Vinyl or anything fake. I have vinyl now and planning on just placing on top for an additional layer.

A lot of the marina’s in Mexico use what they call steel wood for their docks because it’s so durable. They have to pre-drill the nail holes so the nails don’t bend. It will dent a boat before the dock breaks. Don’t know what the real name is, but all the marina’s call it steel wood.
