You said that the newer Atwood 10.5 gal WH don’t have a 12v connection. That’s not correct. I had two new 10.5 gal WH installed last spring.
They still had the 110v connections to operate off shore power or the generator.
And they still had the 12v to operate off the Webasto heating system (like Jeff said), which is especially handy if you’re taking long showers, doing the wash, and doing dishes all at the same time!

I am about to buy 2 Seaward units ( or Kuuma) with rear heat echanger ports.
There is no mention in their literature that a 12v connection is needed.
I definitely like the Webasto connection and want to preserve it. If the Seaward units or Kuuma do not have I need to rethink the purchase now before I place the order.
What does the 12v circuit do exactly (internally) in relation to the Webasto ?
Is this loop (circuit) what allows the Webasto to energize separately when you flip the switch ON , without turning to ON the Internal Heat exchangers switch as well ?

so…….nobody knows what the 12v circuit in the Atwood water heater is actually doing inside in relation to the Webasto?
If you change to Kuuma or Seaward brand you don’t get to integrate the water heaters in the Webasto system although the heat exchanger is linked into the coolant loop?

As I understand it, the 12v ignites the Webasto, either for your WH, or to Heat your coach via your SMX panels. No 12V, no spark in your coil to start your Webasto.

If that is the case what do you do when the new water heaters don’t have a 12v circuit (like Kuuma )?
Did anybody make a change to a different brand and had the Webasto tied in ?How did you do it ?
Anybody with direct experience please chime in. I have to order water heaters this week.

On the older Atwood water heater / heat exchangers?
I mean specifically. how are they used? I cant find that sheet in my schematics.
