If yours craps out the watchdog and it can not be repaired or get a new one the magnum will work maybe better but it will not work from the crestron only inverter panel but it will also start gen when it gets hot inside with temp sensor installed , which the watchdog does not

I’m not completely sure that is correct.

The Watchdog is more than a starting device. As the name implies it is monitoring the generator operation and in the event of some value being out of range, like oil pressure or coolant temp it will shut down the generator. Without that protection a broken fan belt can allow the generator to overheat, and eventually destroy the generator as an example.

With regard to auto-start if a coach gets too warm inside that presumes the AC units will come on when they see generator power. I cannot speak about other coaches or conversions, but my AC units (Cruiseairs) will not start if power is applied. In fact as it is set up I have shore power disconnect as a generator start feature. If power is tripped at the power pole, my ACs that are not on the inverters will shut down. Even if the generator starts and restores power to the coach those ACs that shut down will not restart.

It might be possible for a coach control system like Crestron to be reconfigured to initiate a restart cycle. My point however is before thinking any generator start system has a feature such as maintaining cool coach temps it should be verified, especially if you plan to leave the coach with pets inside.

My non Crestron Marathon will restart all AC/s after power is restored. I assume Techlink enables this to happen.

My Marathon behaves the same way. Before our trip… I tested it and simulated a power failure and Auto Gen start to make sure the Dog would be Ok… and everything worked as advertised.

Good advice by Jon to Check it. We had some issues later and eventially relocated our Geny Battery to the geny bay to eliminate some starting issues.

Crestron program can change what comes on or not with power being reapplied after a loss of power….As far as gen watchdog, I would always repair the system first if parts are available for that…..Also systems like a gen autostart does not always fail on its own…we have had coaches that have seen voltage spikes and lightning strikes that have damaged everything on the coach electronic. Many of those components are no longer available so you either change complete units, or repair the circuit boards if possible…some things like TV lifts, are not such a simple option to change them out to newer units….

Thank you for your post about the autostart issue and fuse sizes. I just purchased a 2001 H345 Liberty. The autostart wants to start the generator simultaneously, no matter what the digital voltmeter says on the disply in the interior panel. It did work once a few days ago, and the generator ran for 12 hours and finally quit. The Lifeline batteries are only 1 month old. I am hoping you can tell me what the correct fuse sizes are for each of the wires in the control box (where the shore power switch is)?

Auto start starting immediatly could be a few things…however with the watchdog unplugged and removing the fuses ohm them out are any bad?

This happened when my gen battery needed to be replaced. Then it works fine again.
