  • Washer/Dryer Combo GFCI

Posted by John on November 4, 2020 at 10:22 pm

Hi – New Prevost owner here – have years of experience with diesels and SOB rigs, but this is my first foray in to the big leagues 🙂

The washer/dryer won’t work (Combo Splendide) and the outlet where it is plugged in has no power. The outlet says GFCI protected, but it isn’t a GFCI – therefore I suspect an upstream GFCI has tripped.

That said – I can NOT find the GFCI that is tripped. I’ve crawled under and in each of the bays and reset everything that I can find. All of the outlets inside the rig up top work (including multiple GFCI)…

Does anyone have an idea of where the missing GFCI might be located? I’ve set and reset and reset the Aux breaker, as well as every GFCI that I can find but no joy. I’ve looked at the ceiling and walls of all of the bays, but again no joy.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    I have Marathon #326

On mine the washer dryer is powered from the breaker box in bedroom, it shares a breaker for power, i think it is either the dishwasher or cooker breaker has to be powered on to get power to the washer dryer

I would double check that all breakers are on then check washer dryer for power

We had a good friend with a similar problem and found a gfi that would trip but ultimately it was defective.

He ended up just replacing a couple and it worked.

ghost problems are really a pain.

    good luck,

Yes, as it turns out, the circuit breaker is a GFI breaker, it isn’t downstream from a GFI outlet as I had presumed. You guys were quick to note the difference; thanks!

So..I’ve cycled and re-cycled all of the breakers but still no joy. Next is to check for a flaky GFCI breaker and see what I can find. I will post the result whenever I learn what is actually the culprit.

Thanks to everyone. I’m really, really enjoying getting to know the rig, but have to say, this is an entirely different ball-game when compared to some previous coaches (Monaco, Fleetwood, Winnebago).

    Cheers and stay safe…

A brief follow-up (and another question in a separate post).

The problem seems that it was a loose connection in the GFCI breaker. I removed the breaker, examined the connections which appeared to be fine, and then re-assembled.

Now, there is 120v at the outlet and the washer-dryer works. Chalk another one up to what was apparently just a poor connection at the breaker to the dedicated outlet for the WD.

    Thanks for all who responded….
