  • Washer Draining Issues

Posted by Bill on December 26, 2013 at 10:57 am

    Hi Guys,

The last couple of days I have noticed that when the washer goes into drain cycle I am getting loud garagling noises from the shower drain and a small amount of water is coming up that drain. It just did it again this morning and I had just dumped the tanks…. so I know for certain that the grey isn’t full. It doesn’t seem to do it eveytime so I am at a bit of a loss as to what to check.

    Any suggestions would be appreicaited.

    Thanks

    Bill

    Bill,

That might be an indication of a vent problem. If properly vented you should not experience what you described. But it also could be the shower and washer share a common line into the holding tank and the line has some restriction downstream from the shower drain.

The combination of lint from the washer and hair from the shower drain could be a part of the problem.

Any chance the P-Trap is getting sucked dry when dumping?

    Tom

I think that is the problem. It only seems todo it after I dump. What is the correct process to clean out the drains? Just snake them like on a stick house?

    Thanks bill

Never had to do it Bill, but assume that would work. The reason I mentioned the P-Trap getting sucked dry, when we would get pumped out while at the Nascar races it always happened and we would have to get water back into the traps.

If you had traps being sucked dry the chances are very likely you had inadequate venting or the vents used had blockage. You cannot siphon the contents from a trap unless that is the only source for air to enter the tank.
