  • Vista / LED Window lights

Posted by Andre on February 9, 2015 at 8:22 am

I need help finding a source for the little led light that are used around the windows in my bus. Each window has a small square tube with a string of very small led lights inside the tube. Most of my windows now have a number of leds that are no longer working. For some reason this seems to drive my wife crazy and I need to fix this. Attached is a picture of what the tube looks like pulled from the edge of the window so you can see it easier. Notice 1 light is burned out towards the bottom of the string.

Does anyone know where to buy the led lights that fit inside the little sqaure tube? The led’s are attached to very small wires and the wire is placed inside the tube. Would like to find a source for a bulk roll of the stuff that I could then cut to the correct length for each window.

When Roger and I put rope lighting under our coaches for the bling contest in Santa Fe we did an internet search. What I found were hundreds of possible types and sources for the lighting you show.

In the 15 or more years since your coach was built there is no doubt manufacturers and distributors have come and gone, but someone is going to have what you need.

Andre we’ve done several LED conversions using a LED tape light, getting rid of the square tube light completely. One thing it seems that we always find is that the LED lights are too bright at full intensity to have on all the time & many customers prefer to have dimmers wired to control the accent lights.

Andre, I had. The same problem as you, trying to find a source for a few that did’t work. I happened to visit Visone Rv parts in Bagdad,Ky and they had a few Royales with these lights. I got 3 sections for $15 dollars. This may be an option if you are just wanting to replace a few.

Btw, if you’re not familiar with them they ship all over. Talking with a local rv dealer they use Visone for used parts all the time. Just visit their web site..

Thanks to everyone for the input. I have sent an email to Royale Phonex that Peter suggested to see if they have the correct led / wiring available. I have also started looking at the LED tape that Tradewinds suggested as a possible solution. Will start working on this project in 2 or 3 weeks when my house move is completed.

    Andre,

Here is a link to a site that has many different types as well as different widths. http://www.superbrightleds.com They dim, change colors, or you can get a solid color. They have them in rolls or shorter. They can be cut into 3 light segments, so should be able to fit your windows. Remember to look at the ‘color’ when ordering. 6000 is white-white and the lower the number from that the more yellowish they become. They also show the lumens per foot and some can be really bright (good for under the upper cabinets in the gally). They are all (well almost all) dimable and you would want to put a dimmer on the bright ones. The dimmers can be ordered that are remote control. More stuff that you can imagine.

Gee, I really LOVE spending other people’s money!

    Andre,

You can order them from the original supplier, Vista Manufacturing. I had incandescents in my 2006 Royale, with several burned out. I called Vista and they provided me with LED replacements made to order. They were/are very familiar with the Royales.
