I bought a camera from the FMCA show a few years ago but had to give it away-I never could find the beep-buttom for the audio.

I saw a video someplace showing a truck driver stopped for speeding by a state trooper. At first the conversation was somewhat abusive by the trooper not showing any respect to the truck driver. Into the verbal exchange the truck driver says, “By the way officer I have a video camera which also is recording our conversation”.
Attitude adjustment by trooper at which time verbal warning and released.

Dash Cam arrived today recommended above. Based on the last time I looked at these dash cams they are much lighter and smaller.
Pretty easy set up, plug and play. If cigarette lighter is matched to ignition switch it will power down after several minutes. Long power cord included so it will reach to cigarette lighter without a problem. Cost, $159.99 free shipping

That’s the exact same one I got. 170 degree field of vision.
And cheap. I paid $35.
No I didn’t. Just screwing with Al.

Yes BA, you have enough cord on the end of the cig plug you can run it thru your curtain rings and over your head to the dash and plug in.
Come on, hard wire it.
Oh, should we go get your bus too?

Where are you guys mounting the camera? If up high near the center post, that is out of reach of the wiper. Do you keep that area of the windshiled coated with Rainex so the picture is clearer? Is is better not to have the constant back and forth of the wiper in view? It seems to me it would be.

Just a couple of comments. I have my dash cam located low on the LH side of the driver’s windshield. It is high enough for me to see the monitor, and it does not block my view or interfere with the privacy blind. It has a very slim front to rear dimension so it likely can be placed anywhere on the windshield an not interfere with the blinds.
I think when the “hard wiring” of the devices is considered look at the specific power requirements of the device. I have 3 devices installed near the driver’s dash area, and I do not have wires strung everywhere. I located each device so the wires drop out of sight and are routed behind or under the trim panels. But all still retain the plug intended to go into a lighter socket.
In my electric box under the driver side window I hard wired a 4 socket receptacle into the “key on” 12 volt electrical post and then plugged each of my 3 devices into the receptacles. Not all devices actually run on 12 volts. their plugs are converters in some cases that take the 12 volt power and change it to a different value, such as 5 volts. If the device was actually hard wired it could damage the device.

Can anyone recommend a good IPhone app to use as a vehicle dash camera. I ended up with an extra IPhone and want to record some video while driving and would like suggestions on good video app. Thanks,
-
Pat,
I looked at Car Camera by AppAnnex for 3.99, but the function is to just record an event as needed.

The reasons for dash cams is not to record any specific events, but to have an endless recording going at all times of the road ahead for protection. A number of us have had very close calls in which people have cut in too close, or just got in front of us and slammed on the brakes with the intent to cause us to hit them.
We are hoping the dash cam will provide proof should an accident occur, that we are blameless.

Thanks for the link yesterday, quite a few members of PC came by and looked around. I started back up on the website in October after a brief hiatus because of health issues.
Here is a video I discovered this morning. One thing about it, I don’t see a truck anywhere, where in the world did this tire come from?
Watch them Right Handers.
