  • Video: Viair 400P Portable Air Compressor Demo

Posted by Andy on August 20, 2017 at 12:19 pm

I recently purchased the Viair 400P compact air compressor and after a false start and contacting Viair Tech Support, I can honestly say this is a nice accessory to carry on our coaches.

As Tom wisely pointed out, our coaches allow for air filling using the built-in compressor. But for newbies such as myself who don’t want to risk doing anything that could adversely affect the air system, using a separate compressor may be good coice. You’ll also see that I didn’t want to mess with the coach’s batteries and took the safe route and powered it by connecting the clips to my Jeep’s batteries.

I’ll add a note that since it includes two coiled hoses, it appears the gauge can fit between them from a safe distance and allow for filling without sitting next to the outer tires. For the purpose of demonstration, I didn’t take my own advice!

Andy, it looks compact. I carry a 150psi pancake compressor in the coach. I just plug it into a 120v outlet on the coach. Simple and inexpensive

I have a pancake compressor on the Flxible, but I have a feeling I’ll free up some space and add one of these to the storage room. Other than the obvious tank/tankless differences, the Viair requires a connection to a battery vs. simply plugging it in to a tow car.
