Vent output vs ambient temperature
Can anyone tell me what temperature difference should be expected coming out the OTR bus air vents verses the ambient temperature?
Further to that question: Units with R12 vs 134?
Also, output temperature at the vents of the cruise air units verses air temperature inside the coach?
I’m about to inspect an H3 for possible purchase and would like to check the A/C units with a temperature probe for proper output.

I’m happy with a 20 degree spread between outlet air at the vent and inlet air at the return. There are so many factors involved, humidity, outside air temp, inside air temp, etc. that several A/C experts have told me to simply use the difference factor.
Which H are you going to look at?

That’s what I always considered with cars, but thought there might be some
difference between the types of refrigerant used in the OTR or Cruisair systems.
Going to look at one in Coburg – 0591. Can you tell me anything about it?

On my CruiseAirs 20 or higher is ideal, but anything above 15 degrees spread means the unit is healthy.
On OTR I think I have seen spreads between supply and return of 30 degrees but I don’t know what the standard is.
I would expect the same spread on Prevost air regardless of whether R12 or 134A because when they made the switch somewhere in the mid 90s the system was redesigned for 134 and I believe the condenser and the expansion valve were changed to improve efficiency.
