Vantare Fire
This afternoon was interesting, about a week ago the Bat Balance/Hi/Low tell-tale lights along with an audioable alarm came on. Couldn’t find any real conditions based on the Vanner specs; unplugged the relays to silence the alarms and moved on. Then today… Another alarm, the fire alarm. The Vanner monitor in question was melting. I have a picture but can’t figure out how to upload it from my phone. I have two Vanner system, house and chassis. That’s the extent of my knowledge regarding them. Is it as simple as replacing the monitor or do I have a bigger issue?

it is possible that it is as simple as replacing the vanner, however there was a time that Prevost had a recall to add fuses in line at the vanner. I have seen several that have melted down however I’ve never seen one actually catch fire. Everything needs to be tested before simply replacing vanner and not knowing for sure if that is the only issue.

The Vanner system itself seems fine, it was the Vanner monitor that caught fire.

The Vanner monitor is nothing more than a reporting device. If the problem was isolated to the monitor you can easily verify that.
Use an electrical multi-tester to verify the voltages at the Vanner monitor leads. This document gives you the information you need to know if the readings are i range.

Obviously if they are out of range, such as excessive voltage you don’t want to run the coach until that problem is solved.
