Vantage Generator Slide
My coach, as many other Vantare/Featherlite owners know, is located within a quiet box on a drip pan with airbags and rubber isolation mounts. I rebuilt the 17.5 Power Tech last june; same Isuzu 4LE, new turbo and new marathon generator end. Last week in OKC an injection pump started to leak, and now I am faced with replacing all of the sound/heat insulation. While I have the generator out I am contemplating putting it on a set of slides. I’ve found someting I think will work, but rather than reinvent the wheel I wondered if someone knew of where converters are purchasing their roll out trays. In particular I like Marathons, I’ve helped a friend work on her generator at a show and boy was it easy and surprisingly sturdy. Any help, as always, appreciated.

I believe Liberty makes their own. I am sure they will sell you one, but I think any welding fab shop can create a slide quite inexpensively that will work well.

Sounds like a great new product idea for a small manufacturing company that focuses on the recreational vehicle market.

As a former fabricator of metal goods I can say there is no way to build the small quantities this market would be buying and expect to make any money unless the proces were very high. There are different generators in use, some are sideways and some are installed lengthwise and a company trying to reach the market would have to spend a lot of money it likely will never recover.
Some small shop with access to the right machines and tools could probably make one in a day with about $100 in materials as long as it had the bus and generator sitting right there so the builder could get the dimensions. If it needed air bags and full extension double the hours and material cost at the very least.

Anyone have a P/N & supplier handy for the airbags used under a generator?
