Vanner Monitor Again
So my Vanner monitor is erratic to say the least. The balance light comes on some trips and will stay on for several hours, on others days it never comes on. Every time I check the voltages (which I have done several times) they are within 0.1 volts of 1/2 the 24 v DC reading. I have never seen an issue.
I was about to order the newest model but the installed unit pictured below looks fairly new. Now I have not replaced it during my ownership, so it is at least 9 years old. What surprised me is that there is no letter designation after the model number.
What say the experts, is this the original version which should be replaced?

Date code should be on back on a sticker along with serial number. On later models, I think the serial number may incorporate the DOM. This is my old one (2003) that I replaced a few weeks ago.

I took the Vanner Monitor off the top of the rear electrical box today. No model number provided. No fancy bar code, Only a serial number and Vanner does not appear to give you a way to lookup the serial numbers.
The back of the case also appears to be cracked.
I think I will replace it.

Our 99 Liberty XLV had the original Vanner monitor when we bought our coach in 2014. A few years later I was doing a pre-trip inspection and noticed the Vanner Monitor had “melted down”. Fortunately it didn’t set the coach on fire. Two airlines on the ceiling of the engine bay were melted. I think it was a “C” model. I replaced it with a new one, a Model D.
On one or two other Vanner threads I’ve been critical that the Vanner Equalizer and the Vanner Monitor are poorly designed in that they do NOT incorporate fusing nor do they provide a digital voltage readout of what they are seeing in the batteries. My disappoint continues.

You can email service at Vanner and they will tell you if you give them the serial number information, but with it cracked like that, I’d replace it.

The fusing for the monitor is external and has to be done by Prevost or the converter. The equalizers have circuit protection, a resettable breaker located on the bottom of the equalizer.
The monitors have been somewhat unreliable, but I have found, and posts on the forum seem to suggest a pretty good reliability level for equalizers.

I ordered the replacement last night from our friends at Inverter Services.

My 99 CC was fused with water tight connectors and ATC type fuses.
Just use heat shrink butt connectors and the rubber fuse holders you can get at an auto parts store and I think they were 10 amp fuses on both the 12 and 24 volt terminals.
Your monitor is very old, I think the current version is a 70D.
With the case cracked like that I’m sure it’s getting plenty of moisture in it when driving in the rain.

You may be right. Although, my rear electrical box stays dry, the right side bracket had both rivets broken. The thumb screw was not keeping that side of the lid against the gasket.
I see no signs of fuses. I will add per the Vanner directions.

After hearing all this I ordered a EM70D from inverter service center for $112 bucks no tax free ship seems like a good deal. Every time I start the bus the light lights up for a couple of seconds about 30 seconds after it fires up always works good. I will install new part and save old part for back up. $112 seems like a good deal?

Talked to Chris at Vanner and he said to install 2 in line 1amp fuses 1 on the 24v side and 1 on the 12v side on the EM-70D, He said both of my units 60-100D and EM-70D monitor have been Around for 20 plus years, What kind and where has anyone installed the 2 fuses??
