Vanner Fuse
The Vanner EM70D control is the newer and safer box for fire, but Jon you said to add a fuse link to Input and Output is that correct and is that where it says ignition 24v???? There is 3 outputs

Some of us know Matthew Valentine who has developed the LED headlight upgrade for Prevost coaches using the J.W. Speaker engineered LED headlamps. He posted this to Facebook a few weeks ago regarding the Vanner Monitor.
“Before…and After upgrading Vanner Battery Monitor from EM70A to EM70D and adding a 6-space fuse block to properly fuse the 6 combined inputs and outputs. I had to move the Vanner up and over to the right slightly to gain room. Input side (bottom) of the fuse block is labeled properly with heat shrink labels. The curly Q pigtails for the jumpers between the output side (top) of the fuse block to the Vanner isn’t for style points – it is to gain enough usable length to work with because they are so close together. I also lowered my cable clamp but didn’t shorten the overall chassis cable length.”
Our 1999 Liberty XL45 was the test mule for his Speaker LED headlight upgrade and I found him to be a pretty bright guy.
I’ve seen pictures of inline fuses added by maybe the converter, a service facility, or an owner … I think Matthew Vallentine’s approach is much cleaner.

I wonder where he got the fuse block? I ordered this on internet says 30 amp rated looks close

Just FYI ATC fuses are only rated to 32v. Mine had a fuse in line from alt to the external regulator when the alt was configured for 12v regulator. When I swapped it to the 24v regulator it melted that fuse from arcing. Replaced the fuse and same thing. I wouldn’t run atc fuses if any of that is 24v but I guess it’s better than nothing as they have and that setup looks great

Fuse holder is rated for 30 amps that should be way more then it needs the fuses needed would probably be low 10 amps or less??

The recommended fuses are pretty small: Looks like all 1amp.
Notice the yellow wire.
I’d like to find a fuse panel with lights so I can quickly tell which of the wires is trying to tell me something.

I am confused. Previous info I have seen indicates 3 amp fuses are needed on the 12V & 24V positive leads. Have never seen lamps/indicators needing fused.

Fuse Holder came in from JBugs VW parts place, When I can I will install it and call it a day. On schematics it shows 3 curly symbols on all 3 lamp wires also 1 1amp fuse for all 3 wires and between EQ and batteries on 12v & 24v show 2 large fuses??

Couldn’t you put in those glow fuses that light up when they are blown?

I suppose you could. But I’m also interested in knowing what circuits are energized so that from the engine/battery bay I can tell what the Vanner Monitor is trying to tell us.
Just reinforces that they the Vanner Monitor should have:
1. Fuses built in.
2. Little LEDs telling what going on with the Vanner Equalizer.
3. Digital readout of the 12 and 24 volt sides.
After my Vanner Monitor burnt down a number of years ago, I wrote to executives at Vanner with those suggestions. Even going as far as saying that most coach owners I know would immediately go out and buy a new Vanner Monitor with this enhancements. They must be awfully busy as they have yet to respond.

Due to this post I have taken a closer look at my Vanner’s. Mine has two, one is Prevost original equipment, the second is converter (Featherlite) installed. The Prevost installed one has the newer 70D. The Featherlite installed one seems to have the old style one. Please look at attached pictures and confirm please.
