  • Upgrade/Replacement for Panel Gauges

Posted by Ken on April 23, 2015 at 8:18 am

For those of us (Joe Carter) who have antique coaches with
the older Bass electrical panels and may have trouble finding a replacement
digital meter or not satisfied with the layout or operation of their panel this
company was mentioned on the BNO forum. http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/products/front_panels/

Their website includes free software so you can design your
own panel. One of my digital meters
failed about a year ago. Bass is still in business and the folks at Bass are
very helpful. They eventually found a replacement hidden away in a back room
closet, but it was the last one. My
panel doesn’t measure amp draw on the inverter side and I would like to have that function.
My ideal is to design a rectangular black power coated panel with counter sunk screw
holes, properly sized and spaced openings that will fit digital meters similar
    to these.

It will be sized just to cover the original meters and I
think if it’s not too far off in color it should look good with counter sunk
    screws holding it in place.

Sounds like a plan. My 91 after Inverter change to Magnum, everything quit working ac,dc voltage and amp draw meters after electrical cat hooked Magnum up.. Was told they smoked when other inverter shorted. All i have is the Magnum remote to tell me if charger is working and amp draw. At least would like to have ac voltage. Keep us posted on progress.

Thanks for reminder that the fix it list is too long so the upgrade list never gets anything completed.

like the a/c amp meter that does not work on one of the legs and the DC voltmeter that reads 0.15 volts low compared to my fluke.

My Bass set up has 4 digital gauges across the top

DC volts switchable between 12 V house, 12V generator start, and 24V start

    A/C volts

A/C amps, these two are switchable between the 2 A/C legs so I suspect the 10 turn coil is bad on one leg but have never checked it

A/C amps dedicated to the inverter loads

interesting set up in that the second 2500 watt inverter only supplies power to the ice box

i would like to have the inverter supply voltage to know the output but that may be problematic with a modified sine wave output when on the battery

    more fun looms

Front panel express. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
