Update on my Engine codes
Well here is the latest on my s147 VNT vanes not responding codes. Had to wait a few days to get into the Cullen Diesel Shop in Kamloops Peter Campbell gave me great advice to wait… on test drive today they discovered two sensors boost and delta pressure that were not responding right. got those all replaced and then they were pressure checking the whole CAC system and discovered two new catestrophic leaks… the first was in the main inlet pipe from the air filter to the turbo…. nearly rubbed thru by the transmission dip stick of all things. The also found another pretty serious leak on the other side where someone before me did a “bubble gum” repair weld of crack in that pipe as well. They think they can fix both pipes and then we should be good to go… so for those of you with a series 60 around my vintage you might want to look at your trans dip stick and see if it rubbing on the intake pipe from the filter to the turbo. They said had it rubbed thru and with us going to Alaska it would have been game over for the turbo and the engine and it would have for sure “dusted out” the engine.
So thank again Peter! for your advice and recomendation to come here. Cullen Diesel in Kamloops BC they are good people and know their stuff.
Bill
