Universal Studios – Florida
Posted by Jimmy on February 14, 2016 at 8:18 amMaking a quick trip to Universal Studios in Florida. The only RV Park on the PC Map is Ft. Wilderness. Anyone know of anything closer?

How could anything get any closer than Ft Wilderness? There are others in the surrounding area, but not closer that I’m aware of.

It’s a city park, but ‘Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake’ seems to get reasonable reviews. Less than 5 miles to Universal.
Must stress though, I haven’t been there myself.

Since Ft Wilderness is a Disney campground and on Disney property keep in mind that an RV park that is further away than Ft Wilderness is sometimes easier/quicker to access. We stayed at Sherwood RV park once before in Orlando. It’s 12 miles away from Universal Studios, so it might be a little further than you’re looking for. But it will be quicker to get to Universal Studios from there than Ft Wilderness probably.

Alternatively, you could drive down in the bus and then stay at one of the Universal hotels such as Hard Rock or Portafino. That way you will get an Express Pass for everyone included in the hotel cost. Essential for anything Harry Potter. Almost covers the cost of the stay – do the math.
Are you waiting until the summer when the new Skull Island (King Kong) and refurbed Hulk rides are open?

Certainly we could stay in a hotel…anywhere we go. But we love our Prevost. We love sitting on our own throne, sleeping in our own bed, reaching into our wine cooler and being at home wherever we are.
We have a dozen family members staying at the hotel at Universal Studios. I think we’d rather make the trek over from a decent parking spot…with probably a few of the kids.

Fill your water and fuel, empty your holding tank, and park right in the hotel parking lot. Crank up the generator and live large. You really don’t need a campground.

Jon…great idea but here’s what they say.
For the convenience of our guests, we have provided separate parking spaces for recreational vehicles (RVs). Our parking team members will be happy to direct you to the RV parking area upon your arrival. Please note that RVs cannot be parked overnight. For additional information regarding RV parking, please visit http://www.universalorlando.com/hours-information/parking-information.html.
If you are interested in overnight parking for your RV, please be advised that the nearest campground to our resort is Bill Fredrick’s Park at Turkey Lake. Please call (407) 299-5581 for more information.
I’ve never been to Universal before so I’m not familiar with the setup. I called Bill Fredricks and they are a 10 – 30 minute drive based on traffic.

They will take your money for the rooms the family pays for, but they won’t let you occupy some blacktop????????
On to Disney. They want your business.

We have stayed several times at Tropical Palms RV Resort. And will go back again!
Approx 13 miles south of Universal. Room for big rigs, clean, just upgraded all the power connections, heated pool, snack bar on-site, and less than 1/2 mile from Kississimme “Old Town” – touristy place with carnival rides and classic car show each weekend. The park also participates in Passport America (1/2 price camping). Take a look
