  • TSD & Love’s

Posted by Ron on May 14, 2020 at 2:36 pm

Another forum is reporting that the TSD discount at Love’s has been flat rated at 16 cents off per gallon. If so, then TA/Petro are the best deal but maybe they won’t stay in now either now that Love’s has reportedly reined in the savings…..sad.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if during this period of economic trouble that fuel discounts go away totally until things get back to some sort of a “normal” state.

Not sure what forum has this posted, but I have bought fuel 5 times in the last 2 weeks and the discounts have been similar to the ones posted above. In 2 cases the discount was greater than the bill.

I looked at the daily discount schedule and there are none listed for Love’s as of last evening.

I just looked at Calvert City, KY. I stopped there (Loves) on the way out to ETLC and it was 1.406. Right now it is at 2.129!

Loves at Lenoir City, TN was 1.401 on way out and today is shows 2.169.

I guess I would have to say that something bad has happened to the discounts…

In the Greenville Spartanburg, SC area ,according to the EFS Price Locator, the prices range from $1.33 to $2.7. The $1.355 price is at TA Spartanburg, I-85 & SR 290, exit 63.

Checking on prices for I-26 towards Columbia and Charleston. Nothing even displays along the entire route.

Lots of discussion about this subject on the TSD Facebook page.

The flat $0.40 fee per transaction was started about a month or so ago. The EFS fee to TSD is $0.65 per transaction. Up to that point TSD has been eating the fee. Now they are passing some of that fee on to the program users. I have my own theory why they made the decision.

We can speculate until the cows come home as to what is going on, but with unrestricted access to RVers, regardless of how many gallons they take on at one time and the only lanes available for discounts are the truck lanes I have a hard time believing Loves or any truck stop will be happy with mom and pop in their 20 gallon at a time Ford pickup pissing off their best customers by using pumps that were always for the big boys.

The administrative cost for a purchase is the same regardless of if the purchaser buys 20 gallons or 200 so it is apparent there are reasons why discounts might be going away.

But until they do they are better than 10 cents off of the cash price we previously had.

Amen! And there’s still T/A and Petro at least.

I confirmed the .16 off for Loves and TSD, this is the response.

They have for now only given 16 cents off per gallon due to low fuel costs. Hopefully only temporarily

    Thanks for confirming, Tom.

Jon hit the nail on the head with the pickups filling up in truck lanes. Probably then went into store complaining to the managers about something.

Always thought there should be a 100 gallon minimum. If you use less no discount.

Greed is never a good thing! I felt just like Dave with the 100 gallon minimum. Just what we need is truckers going in wanting to know why they have to sit in line while a guy gets 25 gallons for his pickup. TSD may have shot themselves in the foot with this one! And by extension us.

David, Last week Loves changed its discount to 16 cents per gallon. In the meantime, TA/Petro upped it discount to match the old Loves discount.

The EFS app will show you the card price at stations near you if you have your card registered on the app. In Baytown, TX, my price at Baytown Travel center is $2.509, at Loves it is $2.129 and at TA/Petro it is $1.358. These stations are at the same exit on I-10.

    Hope this helps.
