I would like to install a 5 amp DC charger to Gen batt from House batt to keep Gen batt charged can’t find a house batt source to tapp into, charger is a 5amp trickle charger with 14 ga wire does not take much, the big altanator is for house batts because at large cable comming off ot it is 13.5v same as house, Prevost says not to tap into it there,any thoughts?

Others are likely to disagree with me but if you have to keep a trickle charger on the generator or chassis batteries you have either bad batteries or a phantom load that should not be there.
The house batteries however should always have power to the inverters to maintain those because in almost every one of our coaches we do have phantom loads that we cannot turn off unless we do a total shut down.

I agree with Jon, you either have phantom loads, or a bad battery.
I have a 2 position switch to start my Gen from the chassis batteries or the house batteries. I leave it on House battery setting.

I’m not having any problems with gen batt just thought, plugged in at home it would be nice to keep gen batt charged.
