Travel from NC to Bar Harbor recommendations
Google has several alternative routes after DC for traveling to Bar Harbor.
Any suggestions as to routing would be appreciated

It depends upon where in NC you are. With I-95 burned out I would go 77 to 81 for a large part of the trip. Then 78 to 95 to 87. You will get the idea from there as the parkways and interstates seem to entwine but it will get you there.
Look at Google Maps and then add Hagerstown, MD as a stop.

I believe they are.
When we went to Liberty’s rally in Maine a few years ago, we also went to Liberty Harbor RV Park in New Jersey across the Hudson River from Manhattan. We stayed on the Interstates as much as possible. Remember that everything out east tends to be OLD, really old. Old often means narrow roads, low clearances, and other challenges that makes driving a coach exciting. The Interstate in my opinion is the safest bet. But I would not hesitate to venture into the hinterland with proper homework and eyes wide open.

Only parkway you would want to travel in NY or NJ would be the Garden State Parkway. We have done so many times with no issues. Commercial trucks are prohibited on the northern part of the parkway but RVs are not.
The rest to my knowledge have a lot of low clearance overpasses.

I should know better, Wednesday we left Reston VA for CT. I simply punch Hamburg PA in the Garmin GPS as that is my usual overnight stop. All good.
Then we set Madison CT as next end point and ended up taking I95 through NYC and George Washington Bridge. Huge crater potholes, redonkulous bumps that shook the entire coach for 45 minutes.
Better idea is to set Mario Cuomo (Tappan Zee for older ggeneration) Bridge as an end point.
