  • Transmission Pad weird characters- can’t shift

Posted by Marius on February 12, 2016 at 11:04 am

    Hi all,

Have been working on the dash upgrade and recover and while that took place, I had everything taken apart including the Allison Transmission Pad. Had the master 12V, 24V brakers off.

Put it back together, engine started and ran fine, no lights, alarms etc, except……the transmission pad shows 2 “+” characters instead of the “N – N”- see picture.

I tried resetting the master breakers, plug, unplug, disconnected engine batteries…same, no change. Plugged and replugged the Allison TCM, no dice…….

Has anybody seen this before ? I need to move the bus a few feet to work on things upfront and until this is resolved I am SOL.

BTW, below…the before, during and after on the dash…..so many more thungs to do….

    Marius,

I believe those symbols say the pad is not talking or communicating with the computer. So perhaps checking the wire connections will get it going again. I wish you good luck here.

    Marius,

I had the same display when trying to leave Las Vegas last year on our CC Affinity with the 4060 Allison. I found by unplugging the shift pad a couple of times it would reset, and we were able to drive home. Unfortuneately, when I took the coach to our Allison service center, the only fix was to replace the transmission computer to the tune of $4,600.

Resolved. Rudy was right…communication issue….had to be something there. Took some time to check everything and it looks like one of the yellow wires in the plug that goes into the pad was partially pulled out. Pushed each wire in the plug from behind until seated properly and now it shows N-N.

Was able to move the coach.

    Thank you all.
