  • transmission keypad

I am having an issue with my trans keypad. I have no trouble at all going from N to either D or R. When I try to go from D toN, sometimes it takes multipe tries before it shifts. Any ideas whether it might be a dirty keypad issue or sensor problem. This started on this trip when I left California in July. Thanks

Any chance the pad got wet?

I always put a towel over the pad when I have bus washed but I might not have done it when I was in Nova Scotia at a coin operated place….

My 91 does the same getting to N from D. Sometimes have to punch it a few times. Had it checked at Prevost and everything was Sokay. That’s the way it is with my equipment never acts up at shop!

    Mark,

I’ve seen the same kind of issue. Try using a pointy object like the tip of a ballpoint pen. If it works consistently with a pen then it’s most likely your keypad. These types of keypad failures do occur.

My key pad went bad when it turned 12. Got a new one at a DD/Allison dealer in Phoenix. They had it in stock. Does this mean the pads do fail. Left the dealer with lighter pockets. Whoever you call they will want the model number off the back of the pad. A easy task to change. The new pad works great. The old one got to the point it would not go into drive. Of course we were on the road. Finally got it into drive and started looking for a large lot that we could exit in a circle before shutting down. Then drove toad to get the new pad
