Allison has a schedule for fluid and filter changes. The schedule is influenced by how the coach is equipped and used. My memory says regardless of how the coach is set up or used the interval is always 4 years, and the mileage varies based on if you have a retarder or not. Again by memory I think the 4 years comes sooner than mileage based on how I use my coach.

When Prevost Fort Worth changed mine (755CR) to synthetic a few years back , they said 100,000 miles.

Different animal. Also the cynic in me says mechanics are way smarter than the books so being the geniuses they are they often provide advice that differs from what the books say.

Unless proven wrong I tend to stick with what our service and owner manual say.

Allison has an interactive “Fluid & Filter Calculator”. Here’s a link

    Allison Calculator link

The first question asks: “do you have Prognostics on ?

Here is a link about that: Allison Prognostics link

When I completed the above Allison Fluid & Filter calculator it stated:

“Transmission protection and fluid change intervals can be optimized by the use of fluid analysis.”

I plugged in a number of scenarios ranging as low as a couple of thousand miles annually on up and it looks consistent in using 4 years as the change interval.

But if that interval is ignored in some cases the change interval works out to never.

The Allison filter kit part #s are:
    Old# 29548987
    New# 29558117

I think these filters come in two sizes (2” and 4” sump). My 98 Royale has the 2” sump. It is the same part number from what I understand. I ordered mine today off eBay.
