We left for OKC early this morning and started out keeping a 7am appt to replace the shifter pad. Shortly after getting back on the road, the satillite went into error fault. After a telephone walk through with Ben C. we’re pretty sure we lost one of the motors or power to it. The reason for mentioning this at all is of course in a few days we’ll have a huge brain trust all in one place. I realize that Trackstar is out of the dome buisness, but understand parts are available. As we are attending another rally immediately after OKC, we’re hoping that among all that experience and know how(plus the Bears and Packers play Sunday) that we can maybe get this fixed. Meanwhile we’re learning to talk to each other again.

    Corey,

There are several resetting sequences you can go through to check it out… Do you have the info on the dish to perform all the different things to try. There is a particular sequence that will show you the error you are getting. I have the manual on this and had to do it on every TracStar we have ever had… Like the KVH better.

Their tech support was excellent a couple of years ago and we had to replace the control for the elevation … it was a simple fix and I had the part sent overnight, they were great to deal with. I think it took me about 30 mins to replace it… the part I hated was getting on top of the bus !!

I can copy those files for you if you need it or they may still be online. I will run those tests for you in OKC if needed but I will not get on top of anyone’s bus… not even ours anymore unless I had to in an emergency.

Edit: forgot to tell you to turn the power to it off tonite then back on in the morning when you hit the road and leave it on… it might lock in for you and be okay… I mean the power at the breaker…. then also be sure to reset your receivers after you power it back up.

Corey email me and I will send you the link to the manual.

there is a shop in Florida that has parts. You can order parts from him or send the dish in and he will go through it.

    Corey,

If you want a hard copy of the manual you can use mine when we get to OKC.

FWIW the only trouble I ever had with the TracStar was a bad cable connector where the cable connects to the dish housing. I went through all kinds of tests and attempts with 3 different service techs before I got one that said they had a batch of bad connectors. Once I changed that problems solved. That connector was identified by having a small piece of blue plastic visible looking at the end of the connector, and the problem was the connector was not making good contact with the center wire.

Thanks all, I knew we would have some answers in OKC. If we can identify the problem maybe we can get a part overnighted in. Be in OKC Wed.

Found the problem…the plastic gear on the elevation motor hasa cracked hub where it goes on the shaft. Our friends at Tulsa RV took apart 2 used ones and both were the wrong size. Ben C. from Parliament/Coach Worx is comming to OKC and thinks he has the right one. Other wise we’re going to be asking anyone that has Direct TV if they have NFL Ticket !

That’s exactly what happened to ours…(plastic coach)… must be a common problem… they overnighted the part to me and I installed it… pretty simple really…. just can’t stand being up on top of the bus, it used to not bother me but now it does ! Hope you get your part in and fixed.

FWIW you can always take your receiver out of your bus and hook it up to someone’s TV and it will work for your game…not a big deal really !!

    Cheers, Diane

I have sunday ticket! At least we can set it to record the game if it conflicts with the Eagles. My only rule is that we watch the Birds, then anything else you want.

my set up died last winter. KVH is great to work with. My unit was obsolete, I took it off boxed it and shipped it to KVH. They rebuilt it and it wasn’t that expensive. The cost was shipping it. I just didn’t want to go thru a total replacement. But worst case scenario, they’ll rebuild it for you at a reasonable cost.
