Trace 4020 inverter reset
Posted by Jim on August 18, 2018 at 1:06 pmI reset my inverters to factory default, A because They were not charging correctly, and B because I could not tell if I messed with settings.
Now I can’t get the Salon and Bedroom cruise air to work. Galley came back on and the dash switch lights and the each control panel have power. and not sure but seems like the compressors are running but the “blowers” do not come on.
Have check the breakers but have not tried to find relays or fuses.
Not sure if I need to do some re program on the inverters?
anyone have a like experience?
Thanks

The Cruisair units don’t operate on the inverter (do they?) so I can’t imagine how the 2 events are related.

Just tried on generator and no change.
I had the salon and bedroom units off when I reset the inverters, however the Galley was “on” and it cycled off and back on when the inverter reset.
Searching for answers I found a “old” pog post that mentioned
“SMX- control box with a fuse” that was located “under the couch”. But that was on a country coach.
Hoping a Marathon owner has location info.

I own coach #632.
The picture below is copy of Inverter Setup from Marathon. The software in the inverters was specifically setup for Marathon by Trace. I believe mine has a Version addendum.
All of my SMX CruiseAir controls are on the left side of bus above the radiator in the bedroom AFT closet behind a black vinyl cover. A PIA to get to for big man.
I would reset the bus at this point.
My bus could be different then yours so here is my bus:
To Reset – I will provide you the Jim Purcell CoachPro LLC shut down procedure for Marathon with; SMX Controllers, CruiseAir Control System, Dometic DUO Therm Heat Pumps on roof. There are no shut down procedures in my manuals. So Jim gave me this procedure when I took delivery in April 2018.
In sequence:
Turn off your inverters on remote panel (mine is in the DC Control panel on back of DS LH bedroom closet. Due this by pressing menu till cursor is under off. Do this for #1 and #2.
Go outside to DS bay #3 where my inverters are and shut off Inverter #1 and #2 in sequence.
Go to outside PS coach, side engine compartment and shut off house battery’s in sequence. I have 2 banks of batteries (Total six Lifeline 4D’s). So off #1 and off #2.
Unplug shore power. At box or at breaker in (Bay 2 my coach).
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Go have a cup of coffee and let coach rest for 15 minutes
This will reset to defaults.
Repeat the sequence backwards when waking up coach.
See if this helps. Remember my bus could be different then yours.

Ed, thanks again , the Reset worked. Now have the A/C’s all working again.
Now I have lost power or video to the monitor screen. the screen is a “Pyle video monitor” which according to the work order replaced . the original screen.
The instruction manual indicates a in line fuse. Thought I would see if you have any input before I remove the panel screws to look for fuse.
Not ; the screen was flickering a little when I first went back to the coach, but once turned off it won’t come back on.

1st – You should have a display screens button to the left of monitor at the top of a vertical 2 row 8 button group. This button turns the monitor screen on and off by supplying power. Did you check this.
2nd – When the original monitor screens went bad I do not think Marathon had any rime or reason with what to replace them with as long as it had a VGA and RCA input. Mine is a Axcell unit that you have to select VGA input through a remote to make it work.
My Backup camera and TOW vehicle viewer is connect up the the RCA input of this monitor to see this camera I have to select AUX input on monitor.
You could have loose connect on monitor. I have had that before. Because the technician who put it in at Marathon California on work orders did a crappy job.
If you pull monitor I have personal request. Take a picture of the Shore Power relay in the last picture below so I can see what Marathon did to yours. Monitor comes right out after you remove the wood grain switch panel. I have my relay board back at Marathon right now to try and resolve a problem.

Ed, yes I tried the screen select right away, the fuse is good and I don;t find any loose connections, I located the same unit on Amazon, will be here tomorrow.
The relay group you mentioned is over behind the Pro Driver on mine, I snaked the phone in for some pics. look much the same at first glance. I f you need better pics I can open the other side of the dash. let me know.
My email is open if you want to connect.
or call me at 817-975-6985
