Towed Charger
Towing a 2011 Honda CRV and I Never had a problem with my battery going dead, and I don’t remove any fuses but my buddy tows a Chevy SUV of some kind and his battery always goes dead, so I helped him install a towed charger on his, I liked it so much I bought one and installed it on mine, small,simple and it works good. It has a couple of LED lights on it to tell you what it’s doing, It’s a smart charger so when battery is charged it stops charging $80 bucks and a little labor. RVi towed charger

So Art, are you saying it wasn’t broke, but you fixed it anyway?
Your friend should probably have tried to find the current draw instead of masking it with a charger.

I tow at times (and among other things) a GMC Jimmie and the ignition switch could not be turned off completely without locking the steering wheel. I used a battery disconnect switch for a while, but finally removed the lock pin from the steering wheel locking mechanism. Usually when a car with this system is stolen the switch key barrel is yanked out with a slide hammer and the lock becomes a moot point. The ignition key at that point becomes a common straight blade screwdriver. Locks just keep honest people honest.

Most people that tow Honda’s for a long ways take a fuse out, not easy to get to so usually every 4 or 5 hours of towing I start and run engine for a few minutes or so to charge and lube trans, so instead of worrying about battery I did this, My friend said the Chevy SUV he tows said key has to be on 1 click so it’s a common problem, this solved his problem, As for me I think they call it Proactive, Fit it 1st before it has a problem.

My towed vehicle battery or trailer batteries get charged thru the 7 prong trailer plug. The 1 o’clock blade/pin is for this and is hooked into the bus 12v system in the electrical box above the engine
Cost almost nothing.
