I’ve created profiles for the vehicles above, their license plates, and what they are might be towing and it’s my understanding the “system” takes care of it from there. -
Yes on the toads, you need the pass on them as well or you’ll get an invoice for pay by plate, at least I did.

The other reason for the Pass … the pay by plate includes a $2.50 administrative fee per toll, which could be over double the cost of the toll!

I was told by sun pass that you need 1 pass for coach and toad. It counts total number of axles and counts the toad with the coach. Same for pulling a trailer. In fact, they warned me about having a pass in both that I could be charged twice. Have run a single transponder for years. Have never been billed after fact for toad. Very careful to remove transponder in car prior to hitting a toll road towing.

This is true in TX as well with the EZ pass. I have one in the toad only and I get charged 2 axle when driving the car and I get charged 5 axle when the coach and the toad pass through the tolling booth.

Years ago, I had a transponder in each vehicle for Florida Sun Pass and NY EZ Pass. Both passes charged me double for coach and toad for each toll booth…one for each transponder. I now just keep one transponder for both vehicles and I get charged appropriately.
Do NOT get a transponder for each vehicle. Those cameras are smart and will count the axles and charge your account accordingly.

OK has axle readers/counters even in the high-speed toll lanes now. Hasn’t always been the case.

We have ONE transponder that we move from vehicle to vehicle.
If you have two transponders in either of the vehicles and don’t want the system to ping one of them, double wrap it in aluminum foil and put it under the seat.

Jon: You don’t have to keep track of squawk codes as you move from state to state. The little bugger does that automatically for you. When I first started using these things I had a flip phone and the system apparently didn’t care.

To keep life simple, and have less tuff to think about I’ll pay the higher premium price associated with the lack of an EZ pass.
The number of times I am on a toll road per decade I can count on the fingers of one or two hands and will continue to remain in the dark ages.
