Tire valve core stuck?
I was checking tire air pressures and on one of my rear drive outers I removed the cap, checked with tire gauge and, when I removed pressure gauges chuck from the valve, all of the air started escaping the tire. I tried in earnest to “unstick” what i thought must be a stuck valve core inside but no luck. I thought I’d been around the block before with tires over the years but i never had a valve stick open with almost 120lb behind it. This is on the outer drive so the valve faces inward making it more difficult to work with. Any advice?

Might have some balancing powder (pixie dust) in the valve core. Give it a couple of shots of air, it might blow it off and re-seat the core.

If you’re not using Equal, try just replacing the shrader valve.
Also think about a TPMS when you get that sorted out and contact me.

I really dont know what caused it other than a stuck valve core. I removed the core, no dust or contaminants on the core, good rubber, not bent. I reinstalled it and it held air. So I replaced it anyway. Checked the air in all tires once again and the tag tire did the exact same thing. So replaced that one too. I did a little spray soap and all seems ok now. Thanks.

I stopped using a tire pressure gauge and have gone with a combination pressure gauge and valve so I check pressures, and even if no adjustment is needed I give it a shot of air. If there is any foreign material in the valve the shot of air clears it.

I got one of those chuck/gauges and also bought the Milton long chuck end. Really good quality feel. I’ve always owned pretty nice tools, many Snap-on, Mac, etc but always cheaped out on air chucks for some reason. Glad I followed your advice here, many thanks!
