  • Tire prices going up again?

Posted by Kirby on March 22, 2017 at 9:59 pm

This morning I registered a credit card with Michelin and with PC’s Michelin Tire Advantage Program and a list of participating dealers in hand, we went shopping. First place we went did not have any 315s in stock and they pointed us to another dealer close by. The second dealer did not have any of the XZA1 tires, but they did have a good supply of XZA2. We bought two for steer position — cost of each tire was $649.30 plus $52.83 Federal Excise Tax (not including installation labor). The dealer gets a lot of business with RVers who have the FMCA program, so he knew exactly what to do and everything went smoothly.

The first dealer was getting ready to place an order with Michelin but said he would not receive any of his order before April 10th because of a backlog somewhere. The second dealer said his XZA2s were from a January order he received after a wait of some weeks. The tires we got are dated 4th week of 2017, so we are happy with that.

Both dealers mentioned that they were expecting a 6.5% price increase from Michelin on April 1st.

Sometime shortly after March 1, 2017
Michelin had a price increase. I found out by pricing tires in
February, waiting to a while to purchase, and discovering a price
increase the second week of March.

You can get a price for Michelin tires
through the “Advantage Program” by going to the FMCA, Michelin
    Advantage Program web page
(no log in needed), scroll down to the
“Search Michelin Advantage Tire Pricing” and enter the
appropriate information in the boxes. Tire prices will then be
    displayed.

I did all of this recently. I was
helpful to know what the prices were while shopping.

Maybe there is another price increase on the way????

I just bought 8 new XZA2’s through the advantage program. Cost was $7750 Ea , Plus install. That was in Tennessee. I was expecting 6 to 650 range.

    Safe travels,

    Rocky

It seems odd that the pricing would differ geographically. Might be worth your while to call Michelin’s Advantage Program customer service and inquire about that. Linda

Good. We can put the XZA2’s all the way around. I am going to need to pull the trigger here pretty soon. I used to work at Michelin. I will not put anything else on my coach.
