Tire cleaning/Dressing
I’ve always tried to stay away from Tire dressings, even though some of them make the tires look better at times, and then some make a mess and may be harmful to the tires, or are hard to wash and clean once you use it. I try to just keep them clean.
After installing 4 new 365’s, which seem to have a chalky film on them, maybe a protective coating of some kind, I cannot get it off. I have tried soap and water, degreaser, all sorts of tire cleaner, scrubbing with a brush, and nothing seems to get it off!
What are you guys using?
Hard to tell in the picture, but they look way worse in person!!!

The only products that I know are safe on tires and protect from UV damage are “303 Areospace Protectant” and Aero Cosmetics’ “Rubber Care”.
Wash Wax All from Aero Cosmetics is used by the Air Force One Squadron along with a number of cleaning supplies designed for aircraft use such as Rubber Care.
Soap and water and a good scrubbing are my only hints at cleaning the surface of a tire.

I, too, use 303 Protectant on the tires. It’s not too shiny but makes the tires look clean. As I’m washing the coach, I’ll clean the tires with soap and water. Once dry, I’ll spray the 303 on.

thanks, I hadn’t thought about 303. I was told Armour all Extreme is water based, but not sure.

Years ago a old truck driver said he used bleach on his tires, to help traction in wet weather, also said they looked new all the time. I have used on my pickup couple times.

After I purchased my bus I had it washed in Spearfish, SD and told the guy, do not put any of that crap on my new tires. Should have stuck around, came back and one of his nit wits did what I asked him not to. It took almost 2 years for crap to come off and made the tires look blotchy. I use 303. Maybe someone put some of that garbage on your tires.

Tom, these are brand new tires just put on, I wasn’t going to put anything on them, but they look so splotchy, I got to do something, I’ll do the 303.
It feels like a protective coating of some kind, the tires have been in storage since late ’16, but I had to have them. No newer date codes could be found. Reminds me of Cosmoline that used to come on new cars a long time ago, a white chalky/sticky substance.

What you describe is probably mold release compound. It is sprayed in the mold so the rubber will release.
