Jon, thank you for your assurance that the windshield would likely be loosened or pop out. I feel better now. However, your accompanying observation about furniture and cabinet/drawer contents gives me the opportunity for unpleasant contemplation of sharp kitchen knives, pointy forks, and sundry heavy objects.

I have never seen the inside of a motorhome or Prevost conversion following an accident in which things, including cabinets hadn’t be moving around at the very least, or that weren’t torn from their mountings.

It you think about it we have a lot of stuff subject to becoming dislodged. Recliner chairs, dining room table chairs, lamps or vases held down with plumber’s putty, books, and small appliances sitting on the counter top.

I am sure Dan can provide a list of all that moved around, including some things that might have been airborne at one point. And his accident was for all practical purposes a low impact, slow speed accident. With a 3000 pound Prius being hit by 45,000 pounds of bus you know his impact was far less than it could have been.

I am not indicting Prevost conversions, or for that matter motor homes. It is the nature of what we are driving unless we want to go to highly engineered mounting systems, multiple G force construction, and a need to secure everything before moving the coach we have risk. We can minimize the risk by how we drive, the speed we drive and how well we maintaint the coach, specifically the brakes and steering. But when there is a sudden impact we can be reasonably certain stuff is going to start flying.That is why I try not to hit things that are big or expensive.

Jon, like most everyone else we had everything battened down, nothing on the counters all the drawers secured. The collision opened the top cabinets and most of the drawers, silverware and cooking utensils were scattered forward from the galley. Coffee cups and glasses came out of the top cabinets, no plates came out, Judy has some sort of cushion shelf liner she puts between the dishes. The recliner moved forward a couple of feet, but the dinette chairs stayed put. Bathroom cabinets came open and something, we don’t know what, flew into the fridge and dented one of the doors. We have gouges in the hard wood, possibly from the sink covers, they flew forward and are pretty chipped up.

Here’s where I get teary eyed, one of the PC coffee cups we recieved at Driggs was a casulty, along with the Prevost Community license plate. All that dues money shot to hell. On the bright side though, the wine Judy bought from Doug and Jan came through unscathed
