Another forum I frequented moved to a similar platform. I never could figure it out and finally stopped even trying. I hope this does not become the same as that one. There is just no logical flow to see what’s new.

I recall some years ago Coke decided to change their drink formula. Switched back after lot of complaints. Might be the same type of thing here. Old way worked just fine. “Improvement” not so much. Has been my routine for some years to just check every so often for posts placed since last read. Quick and easy.

Most forms I.E. a couple of Jeep forms a few Marine forms, Aviation forms and other Prevost forms have the “What’s New or Since Last Visit” button.

“Change is tough” does not apply when you can’t follow a thread or figure out which posts are new.
Their was a simple format on the last forum with new topics highlighted and new posts clearly listed. This forum has neither and makes questions and answers impossible to follow.
I only found this because I got a notification that there was a reply to my post.

I think it’s kind of fun learning something new. Jessica is watching all the feedback, i am sure if it makes sense she will help out. I really like how the feeds automatically update in the browser tab, that is a cool feature. This is how we transitioned from BBS systems to Web pages, everyone was upset the layout was not the same. We lived thru that and we will all live thru this.

Thank you Mike – yes, change is tough. Honestly the old site as a whole was on borrowed time. As much as everyone loved the old format, it was held together with bubblegum and duct tape on the back end. It was not a viable long term solution. And, as others have pointed out, we did spend a fair amount of time and effort on the classifieds. Like it or not, without our dealers and other advertisers, Prevost Community simply wouldn’t exist. Someone has to keep the lights on behind the scenes…
There are multiple ways for members to view what is new. Once you figure out which one best suits your needs it will be a non-issue. When I got my first iPhone that didn’t have a “button” I was at a loss. But over time I adapted.
Yes, we will continue to make tweaks here and there. But unfortunately the old forum has been laid to rest. It lived a good long life.

This is the only place I spend PC time right now and I am challenged by my phone so it is safe to say new stuff is intimidating. However my initial displeasure has been erased because even I can quickly identify new discussions and even respond if I feel the need to do so.
I have not explored the site and may not, but if the rest of the site is as easy for me to use as the forum it should not be difficult.
I cannot speak to the potential issues looming for the old site, but I can comment on how difficult it is keeping a site functioning as technology advances. Joe Holt spent a lot of time behind the scenes making use of the site and access to the site easy on the multitude of devices and platforms that were emerging. I even had to give up my no camera, no voice mail, no texting flip phone to get a smart phone to replace it. Times change.

The ironic part of my smart phone purchase was that I was forced to do that because the only way I could see the discounted fuel prices was on an app. It pisses me off to realize the entire world expects everyone to be able to access apps.
But like my flip phone, the only time I turn it on is when I want to make a call or look at the fuel discount app.
