Thermostat issue
My thermostat just quit working. Would not read anything, then would jump up for about a minute to give a temperature reading, then stop.
The thermostat was replaced and still isn’t working. t is doing the same thing. Wasn’t happy with the folks that replaced it, but I had to get down the road and it is doing the same thing. Most of the time it reads nothing, then works for about a minute when it does engage. Guessing it might be a sensor issue or loose wire? Is this something I can check?

Do you mean the temperature gauge on the dash?
If so isn’t that one integrated into the dash assembly?

Do you have a message center and does it display coolant temp also, only in digits instead of analog?
If so I’m thinking it might help isolate the issue because DDEC will shut your engine down if the engine temp is high, and if it is a sensor problem you might get a code, but if DDEC is getting good data and displaying it on the message center then the problem might relate to the dash display. A lot of dash gauge issues have been ground issues.
I am guessing at my answer above so don’t believe what I said too much.
