  • Thanks for helping us buy our bus!

Thanks to Jon and Tom for allowing me to join the group, and to everyone who has posted anything about anything. I’ve been reading the forums here for several months and you have been an invaluable resource which has helped us reduce our learning curve tremendously.

I’m thrilled to say that after a lifetime of dreaming, a year of bus specific research, and several months as qualified buyers, my wife Deb and I found and purchased our first Prevost. We chose a 98 Marathon that met and exceded all our “must haves.”

We took delivery last Thursday, and with the help of the folks we are working with, spent two and a half days giving our bus a shake down at the Motorcoach Country Club in Indio, California. An amazing place by the way.

All too soon however, our visit was complete and begrudgingly we left the park and turned the bus back over to them for a few minor repairs and upgrades. We look forward to our first trip on our own in a few weeks.

Big thanks to our friend Chad Stevens and Art at OCRV Paint and Service for all their time and support for ensuring our bus stands tall for our maiden voyage.

We live in Las Vegas and plan on spending much of our summer in the Pacific Northwest, so if you see us out and about, or find yourself on the west coast, please look us up and say “Hi.”

    Thanks,

    Kevin & Deb,

Congratulations, great looking Marathon. Thanks for the kind words, the folks that visit and post on this forum are the real deal for new owners and people considering a Prevost purchase. Now the fun begins, we will expect you on here just about everyday with lots of questions and you might even get a correct answer every now and then.

Lots of Marathon owners on the forum, so you’ll get plenty of help.

    Kevin and Deb,

Congratulations and welcome to the asylum. Your bus looks great and you are really going to enjoy it, especially the over the road air.

You are on the right site to get answers, and some of the answers might be correct. As new owners these coaches seem intimidating, no matter how much time was spent researching or learning. But the reality is they are very reliable with a good maintenance program. And if or when you do experience a problem or a question there are a lot of folks here that can help you.

I would urge you to go to as many rallies as you can. When you meet with other owners you will quickly learn your coach, but also get recommendations relating to all aspects of ownership.

There is one piece of bad news everyone will agree with. Participating in this site will be the cheapest experience you have relative to your Prevost. From this point on, like all of us you will learn all about the cost of fuel, insurance, and general ownership expenses. But despite that owning a Prevost was the greatest irrational thing I have ever done.

Welcome to PC where Prevost owners will learn about there bus.

Let me be the first Marathon owner to congratulate you both.

Along with your maintenance program I suggest getting a 3 ring paper notebook binder and from day one log in every thing you do to your bus.

All the visits to repair shops, all the things you do. Just date it and note the event. You found a loose something, you adjusted a latch, replaced a fan belt, service oil change, air filter change, every nut, bolt and screw, replaced a windshield, fixed a shade.

Here is the catch, when the time comes to put the bus up for sale, this is what will separate your bus and another who claims he fixed everything and never had any problems ?????

Prevost …the smoothest ride on the planet

Thanks for the welcome and excellent advice. We’re very glad
    to be here!

Rallies are definitely on the horizon for us. We’ve been mapping our year and hope to catch
a few along with a race at the Talladega Superspeedway in October – I was pleased Deb
    agreed to that.

I whole heatedly agree records make a difference come resale
time. I came from a 2003 Dutchstar a few years ago and I believe the records I kept helped sell my coach faster and before others offered at a lower price – even with
    higher mileage.

A binder of detailed service and upgrade records is one of
the big reasons we purchased our Marathon over a few others. The previous
owners were meticulous, and we will absolutely continue logging work done.

    Kevin,

Congrats on your new bus. As an owner of a vintage Marathon, I think you made a good choice. We have had ours for 3.5 yrs now and it has been a great bus. Happy to help if you have any questions.
