We have concluded the typing problem is with Internet Explorer and the solution is being worked on.

If you switch to Chrome, Firefox or use Safari, you shouldn’t have any problems.

I am not even remotely capable of determining what is going on or what the fix is, but I can say with certainty every site I regularly visit and post on has the same type of problems. From my limited perspective there is no single common problem, nor do problems occur at the same time, but they do occur.

I mentioned previously another site has the exact same issue and I cannot remember if it was related to a specific browser or operating system. I know of one site in which posting a photo created problems.

Our forum is not like V-bulletin and the problem we now have is over our nearly 3 years of existence we have developed a data base that is very valuable. We recently upgraded to use the Google search function making access to that data easier. We do not want to lose that and to switch over to another forum prevents access to that data unless we run two parallel forums. That would be a nightmare. Our web guy knows our problem and as soon as he can duplicate it so he can research a repair it will be done.

I have just added http://www.prevostcommunity.com to my “compatibilty view” mode so I will keep typing and see what happens.

So far so good, I hope this works because if it keeps going like this I will post this rather than delete it so if you do get to read this post then you will please follow these instructions in your internet explorer. (IE)

    Open your IE browser :

    Go to TOOLS

Scroll down to COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS

Where is says add this website type in

http://www.prevostcommunity.com and then click on Add ( the box beside it) Then it will appear in the box below that says websites you have added to “Compatibility View”.

There are two additional boxes to check under that check them both.

The first box says “Display Intranet Sites in Compatibility View”

The second box says “Use Microsoft Compatibility Lists”

Works like a charm now !!

    Cheers, Diane

Ok Diane, let’s see if that does the trick. I usually am not for a loss of words but try and type something when you have nothing to say. I am working to get past 2 lines and then I will go back and erase something and re type.

Ok so far so good it hasn’t slowed down and I think we might have a fix here. Very good job on the compatible issue. I have had to use that feature on some other web sites and it never dawned on me.

Good job Diane, I think we have a winner.

    BV,

Now that you mention it, I had a problem when typing that the letters were very slow popping up on the screen. I thought it was my dying Apple as I’ve had a lot of issues with it as it has started to age.

    Lately, everything has been fine.

Jon and Tom, I use a collection of devices/computers. Airbook with Safari, Chrom and FireFox, Windows 8 (Desktop) with IE and Chrome, Windows 8 RT (Tablet) with IE and then Windows Phone 8.1 (IE).

Trying to type on the Windows Tablet and Windows phone is a nightmare…

I have to go VERY SLOW and be very careful to not make a mistake (or just accept them. See my post from last night for major errors I just let go).

Airbook and Windows Desktop are okay.

I have the problem with typing slowing down the more I typed. I use Internet Explorer 119.xxxxxx.

I have had similar problems with the “comments” feature of JSonline.com (the web version of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

I followed the instructions above and that appears to have solved the problem. I can type and correct is as fast as my fingers can move!
